在洛杉磯湖人效力多年，科比創造過很多輝煌，也曾得到過很多跟社會名流交談的機會。而曾經給過科比真正鼓舞的，是已故流行音樂天王——邁克爾-傑克遜。

在科比進入聯盟的第二年，他曾飽受批評，當時傑克遜給科比打了一通電話。在早前接受採訪的時候，科比透露了那通電話的內容。

MJ在電話中給科比說了些鼓舞的話：“不要為其他人改變自己，你要保持專注。”

怎樣才能成為歷史最佳？MJ也給了科比一些建議。“如果你想加入歷史最佳的行列，你需要跟那些已經在那個行列裡的人學習。沉迷於你所做的事情和你做事的方式。”

無論是體育界還是娛樂界，或者其他領域，那些最偉大的人物總是會分享那份渴望——不惜任何代價成為最出色的一人。科比因職業道德和堅決享負盛名，而傑克遜確保讓科比知道自己需要去達成心中的目標。

Kobe Bryant has MJ to thank for his cutthroat approach to basketball.
Nope, not that MJ. The other one: Michael Jackson.
On an episode of HBO’s Real Sports airing Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers legend revealed the King of Pop called him out of the blue back in 1998 when Bryant was just 18. Jackson gave him some advice that helped guide the young Bryant:
“I was starting to get flack for being an introvert and being so serious all the time about the game. And he wanted to call and give me encouragement and say, ‘Don’t change for them. You have to stay focused. If you wanna be one of the all-time greats you have to study the all-time greats. You have to be obsessive about what you do and how you do it.’”
Bryant has spoken about his friendship with Jackson (which included a visit to the famed Neverland Ranch) before while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2015. Seems like Jackson was a surprisingly huge influence on Bryant’s work ethic:
