Walk the World for Michael is an annual event which takes place around the globe on or around 29th August.
The 'Walk the World initiative began in 2013 after several supporters expressed an interest in organising a sponsored walk to benefit initiatives being run by MJL. Walks are organised by dedicated supporters around the world on or around 29th August - Michael's birthday. The charity provides as much help as possible in getting each walk the necessary promotion and support and so far, every organiser and participant has not only been successful in completing their walk, but has thoroughly enjoyed it.
Walk the World - NORWAY
The very first 'Walk the World' event was organised by long term supporter, Irene from Norway. Irene designs the most beautiful cards and put her skills to work in making stunning cards which were given to sponsors and walkers and added a very special touch to this event. Irene and her amazing team comprising both children and adults went on to raise over £250 towards the brickwork of Everland Haiti Children's Home.
Walk the World - USA
The second 'Walk the World for Michael' took place on Saturday 17th August 2013 in a stunning part of Hawaii. Organised by our amazing secretary Karen, she and another incredible young lady raised £192 (around $300 USD) between them. This particular walk's proceeds went towards the buying of Christmas gifts for the Everland children destined for Everland Liberia.
Walk the World - Canada
On Michael's birthday 2013, four supporters walked 7 kilometres through Calgary, Canada. Walkers added a special touch by handing out Michaelised Canadian one dollar coins to those they met along the way. Organised by author Brenda Jenkyns, over £320 was raised and put towards the brickwork of Everland Haiti.
Walk the World - United Kingdom
On 31st August 2013, inspired by the above and never one to ask without being willing to give, MJL's Founding Director Dee walked five kilometres through the UK's beautiful Hucking Estate woodland, starting and ending the walk at Michael's newly dedicated bench in Michael's Acre, and raising over £360 for the brickwork of Everland Haiti.
Michael's Pastures of L.O.V.E. project is bringing hope and healing to ill, neglected or otherwise needy horses.
California Coastal Horse Rescue, located approximately 80 miles from Neverland, is a ten-acre rescue property which provides food, shelter, rehabilitation and medical care for horses that have been abused, abandoned or neglected. MJL's mission from 5 November 2013, through Michael's dedicated fans around the world, was to sponsor a pasture and stall at this site, alongside a dedication bench situated near the pasture which will allow people to sit and view the horses as they recover. The entire amount was raised by 12th March 2014, in just over four months.
Each pasture at any given time is home for about eight horses, giving them an open, vast and natural setting in which to play and to graze. The sponsorship also includes a 24x24 enclosed and covered stall. Feeding troughs and drinking water containers are in each stall, and there are plans to install automatic water misters soon for the horses’ comfort during the extremely hot Ojai Valley summer months. Part of the funds raised will purchase a permanent breezeway cover, so that all the stalls will be dryer in winter and cooler in summer, providing much greater comfort for the horses.
Both stall and pasture includes an engraved recognition plaque with will honour Michael in perpetuity, and the amount raised also includes a dedication dedication bench, so that donors and the public can sit overlooking the pasture and reflect on Michael's legacy. Once again, supporters proved that together, we can make Michael's dream come true in healing this world, one step at a time.
Supporter Susan T from the USA reminded us of this famous quote by Margaret Mead just as we were completing this project: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
You did it again, Michael's faithful few! The £5000 ($8000) needed to sponsor a stall, pasture and dedication bench in Michael's memory has been raised by just 80 supporters/groups (listed in order of amount given, with largest donors appearing first) from 19 countries which include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Sweden and the USA.

MORE good news thanks to YOUR generosity. After three years without water, thanks to those of you who gave towards the water provision, Everland Haiti Children’s World now has water! It was a huge job since they had to bring in water from the river which is almost a mile away. Here you will see men digging the canal in order for the pipes to bring water into the village.
